History, Literature and Philosophy are just few of the subjects associated with humanities. Currently, the range of subjects has increasingly widened. It includes: liberal arts, such as music, art, religion, and ethics, as well as social studies like: political science, law, journalism, and anthropology – practically anything that helps you get to the core of culture and human condition. If you want to become a conversant with the enormous wealth of the human culture, experience, and perception – this program is for you!
The first semester is fully focused on Russian language training: building reading, writing, speaking and oral comprehension skills necessary for both academic understanding and daily communication. As a key outcome, students achieve the require language level to continue studying specialty courses.
In the second semester students go on mastering their language proficiency with the course of Russian for Academic Studies, and also develop advanced learning competences, including presentation and seminar participation strategies, time and materials management, meeting deadlines and responding feedback. The specialty part of the curriculum gives students fundamental knowledge in History, Social Studies and Literature to be expanded in their further studies. Meanwhile, the introductory course of Academic Russian helps students to facilitate their study and research process by enabling them to think critically, search for relevant information, and developing basic referencing, reviewing and editing skills.
The knowledge gained from the program forms a strong foundation for careers and further study. Apart from classical humanities tracks (like history, philosophy and philology), graduates can apply their cultural and language skills to a variety of education fields including management, education, journalism, cultural preservation, and communications. Furthermore, the program gives you a wide set of highly-valued transferable skills such as critical thinking, analyzing media, creativity, cultural awareness, self-expression, arguing persuasively, and much more. After completing the program successfully, students become fully prepared to enter relevant Bachelor, Master or PhD programs at Russian universities.
